Promotion of Family Health Project 
 
Family Health Project is one of the Projects under DSSD Caritas Fort Portal which is geared at mobilizing community to achieve good health. Its major Goal is to ccontribute to reduction of maternal and childhood morbidity and mortality through awareness raising and sensitization.
 
Presently the project is being implemented   in Kigarale, Kisojo and Rugorra/Butunduzi town council Kyenjojo district
 
Objectives:
1. Contributing to reduction on the degree of malnutrition among young children in the targeted sub counties of Kyenjojo District by 2012. 
 
2. Increase the number of women of reproductive age who have received at least 4 ANC consultations and have received 2+ doses of IPTp by at least end of 2012  
 
3. To reduce vaccine-preventable diseases and vitamin A deficiency through sensitizing communities to take children for a full immunization and vitamin A supplementation of children before the age of 12 months and five years respectively in the targeted area by 2012.
 
Partnerships: To achieve the above objectives DSSD Caritas works in close collaboration with Kyenjojo District Health Team at all levels.

Nutrition training for VHTs of Kisojo and Kigarale S/Counties. This will enable them to advocate for provision of nutritious foods at household level to curb degree of malnutrition among young children
 

A mother is helped to take a child weight during one of the out reaches in Kisojo Sub County. This helps to understand the child growth and development.
